Books I Read In June…

As soon as Ive finished a book these days I am eager to return them to the library and pick up some more. Once again I wasn’t looking for anything in particular so I chose two that caught my attention.

  1. The Night Circus – Erin Morgenstern                                                                                     This book is set in the late 1800’s and follows two people who are partaking in a game, of which neither of them know the rules. They are being taught magic and real illusions from a young age and they will find themselves at the centre of a one of a kind circus which will be a key part of the game. What will the outcome of the game be? How will that effect the lives of all the people inside and outside the circus?              At first I wasn’t so sure if I would enjoy this book but I kept reading and I am so glad that I did. The Night Circus is a truly magical and enchanting book that once you start reading you wont be able to stop. It is full of the most incredibly detailed descriptions that will make you feel like you can actually smell the popcorn and candy apples of this mysterious circus. You will be hooked right from the start to find out how the game works and what will happen to the characters. This was one of my favourite books I’ve read.                                                                                                                                         dsc_0238
  2. Looking For Alaska – John Green                                                                                             Looking For Alaska is about a boy, Miles Halter, who moves from his home in Florida, to go to a boarding school in Alabama, this is where he meets a group of friends including, a girl called Alaska Young. You will follow Miles as he seeks his ‘great perhaps’ and how life has been turned upside down since meeting Alaska Young and it will never be the same again.                                                                                                         I really enjoyed this book, it is all about how powerful love is, how love can change you, and how important good friends can be when times are tough. It was funny, heartbreaking and I didn’t want to put it down.                                                                            dsc_0244

Check out what I read previously here. Have you read these books? What did you think? Also I would love to hear any book suggestions you have let me know in the comments ore follow me on twitter.

NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette…

This is the NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette. This palette is available in 4 different colour combinations, Brights, Cool Neutrals, Warm Neutrals and Smokey & Highlight. I choose to buy the Warm Neutrals because it looked like the one that had more colours I would use. It costs $18 on the NYX website but I did’t buy this product from the website. I bought it from Boots but I can no longer find it on the website. It might still be available in the stores.

  • The first row is a mix peachy, beige shades, 2 of which are shimmer shades and 2 are matte.
  • The second row is a mix of soft and pale matte browns and a brown with a hint of silver shimmer.
  • The third row is a dark brown/gold shimmer, a matte deep brown, shimmery copper/red and a matte deep red/brown.
  • The last row is a deep brown with a gold shimmer,a matte medium brown, a brown/bonze/gold shimmer and a matte dark brown/pale black.

With the mixture of brown and beige shades it makes this palette great for creating many different day to night looks for any occasion.

If you like this palette or have the ones that I don’t have let me know in the comments below.

Rimmel London Sculpting Palette by Kate …

I recently purchased the Rimmel London Sculpting Palette by Kate in 002 – Coral Glow from Boots for £6.99. This product immediately caught my attention in the shop. It has nice rose gold packaging and I am that kind of person that is rose gold so anything that colour instantly attacks me. But I wouldn’t buy something just because of the colour, the product has to be good quality. I thought that the colours in this palette where just too pretty that I knew I had to have it right there and then.

This contour kit comes with three powder shades, one a highlight, one a contour and the last a blush. All three of the colours have a beautiful shimmer to them. The highlight is a lovely pale gold. The contour is a nice light shade of brown and the blush is a pretty coral colour. All three of these shades blend effortlessly with your natural skin tone and give your face a gorgeous glow. The palette itself is small and compact, which makes it the ideal all in one for your make up bag. This then in turn makes it perfect for travel so you don’t have take 3 different palettes with you if you only have limited space in you suitcase or bag.

January Favourites…

I cannot believe that we are already at the January!  With it being the end of the month it means that it is time for this months favourites.

1.Fifth Harmony
First on my list this month is the girl group Fifth Harmony. I have always loved Sledgehammer, then Worth It and then Work From Home, so when they released their album 7/27 in May last year I thought I would give it a listen and I loved it. Then a couple of months later I listened to their previous album Reflection and loved that too, and now it’s January and somehow I am fully obsessed with them. When Camila left in December I was actually heartbroken! I don’t know what it is about girl groups but I always end up obsessed with them! Anyway they are on my favourites list because I love them!! I could start listing the reasons why I love them but this post would be way too long so I will just carry on with the rest of this post.

Fifth Harmony –  Dinah Jane, Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Lauren Jauregui, Camila Cabello

2. Let It Snow – John Green, Maureen Johnson, Lauren Myracle                                                    This book was one of the books I read last month, and out of the two I enjoyed this one the most. It made me feel all Christmassy and since it was December it was the perfect book read in the run up too Christmas. I liked how each of the three short stories all connected and you got to see the same night from 3 different people perspectives. You can read my little review of this book and the other book I read here.

3. Learning Spanish
I have had an app on my iPad since I first got it years ago, it’s called Duolingo. It is a language learning app and using it, I have attempted to learn Spanish a few times but I can never stick with it, but lately I have gotten really into it and I have been practising for 98 days now. I would love to be able to go to Spain this year and be able to understand people and maybe even have a conversation with them!

4. Healthy Snacks                                                                                                                                              Trying to eat healthy is really hard, at least that’s what I think. Mostly because unhealthy food is so easily accessible. So when I found some snacks that where healthy I was super happy, and even happier to find that I actually like them! One of things I bought a couple of times now, is the Urban Fruit, Perfect Pineapple.  It is sweet, chewy and overall just delicious. Once I start eating it I can’t stop! Read about the other healthy snacks I like here.

5. Sleek MakeUP Precious Metals Highlighting Palette                                                                      This is my favourite highlighting palette at the moment and I have been using it nearly everyday since I got it. It has the most beautiful selection of gold colours that give you face a gorgeous radiant glow. It is has a shade for everything that I want to highlight. For £9.99 at boots this is a product I would defiantly recommend. I wrote a full review of this product earlier in the month, if you want to read it, it is here.

What where your favourites this month? Leave them in the comments or message me on twitter, I would love to give the a try!

My January Playlist…

Spotify is probably one of my favourite things and has been since I discovered it years ago. I am always listening to music on there and I am constantly adding new songs to my playlists. I don’t do anything unless I have music on, including now, while I’m writing this post I am listening to Ed Sheeran. I will admit it does take longer to get things done when your too busy dancing and signing in your room instead of doing what you are supposed to be doing, but it’s just more fun this way…

These are just a few of the songs I’ve been listening to lately, go and check out the playlist and let me know what you think. I would love to hear your song recommendations, leave them in the comments below or tell me on twitter.

NYX Liquid Suede Lipsticks…

At the moment there is not a day that goes by where I don’t wear one of these two shades of lipsticks. They are my go to shades and something I will not hesitate to use because I already know that I like them without the fear they won’t look right on me. I always have one of these in my handbag.

The shades that I have are ‘Sandstorm’ and ‘Soft Spoken’. Sandstorm is a nude colour and Soft Spoken is a mauve nude. They  have a lovely matte finish that doesn’t leave your lips feeling dry and heavy like some matte lipsticks can. The texture is creamy and easy to apply. They have a good staying power but can sometimes transfer to the rim of cups or onto drinking straws but when they do, it doesn’t leave your lips looking terrible so I’m okay with a little transfer. The colours in this range have something for everyone from bold, vibrant colours to neutral shades. So there is something for everyone’s personality.

They are reasonably priced at just £6.50 from boots which I think is fair price, given the good quality of the product. I would defiantly buy other shades from this range but I am likely to stick the the neutrals just because the bold colours are not really my thing, I don’t think I could pull them of, as much I as I would love to rock a bright blue or purple lip!

Let me know what you think off these lipsticks in the comments below or over on twitter.

Books I Read In December…

With my one of my New Years resolution’s being to read more I thought I would share what I’ve been reading lately. So I went to my local library and picked out a few books. Not knowing really what I wanted to read I choose a couple of books at random.

Please remember I don’t really know how to actually review books, this is just a brief summary and my opinion.

  1. Let It Snow – John Green, Maureen Johnson, Lauren Myracle                                        This a compilation  of three shorter stories  each written by 3 different authors. The first is called “The Jubliee Express” by Maureen Johnson. The second is called “A Cheertastic Christmas Miracle” by John Green. The last is called “The Patron Saint Of Pigs” by Lauren Myracle.                                                                                                                      All of the stories have interlinked characters and it follows 3 of their lives through Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, with each story told from the characters perspective. We follow each character on a crazy adventure through an epic snowstorm, with challenges, laughs and love along the way.                                                 You can buy this book for  £5.19 from WHSmith.                                                                             dsc_0293
  2. Love Is A Thief – Claire Garber                                                                                                      What has love stolen from you? You will be asking yourself this question when you have finished this book, I know I was. This book follows a recently single writer and her quest to find out what love has stolen from her, and other women with the help of the magazine she works for. Follow Kate on her journey as she attempts to mend her broken heart and discover what really makes her happy. This book will inspire you to go out and find what you have put on hold or given up because you fell in love. You can buy this book for £9.99 from Amazon.

If you have any book recommendations I would love to hear them! Suggest them in the comments or tweet me.

Trying Healthy Snacks…

Whenever I go into the kitchen I open the cupboard door and the fridge and just stare into them hoping to find a snack that isn’t a chocolate biscuit or crisps. I do this all the time even when I know that nothing has changed since I last looked 20 minutes ago! In an effort to resist the food I know I shouldn’t eat but want too, I decided that I would head to Asda and see what healthy options they had.

I was quite skeptical as to whether I, a notoriously picky eater would actually like any of the available selections. I picked up a few options that I thought sounded good to give them a try. I choose 5 different things. Everything I chose was 100% vegan, gluten free and one of your 5 a day, so that was a bonus!

The first thing I chose was the Nákd raw fruit & nut wholefood bars, in the Bakewell tart flavour. This was a box of three bars. These don’t look to appetising but they are really delicious, and actually taste like a Bakewell tart which I doubtful that they would.

The other Nákd product I got was strawberry & cream fruit & nut nibbles. I really liked these, they are sweet but not too sweet, you can really taste the strawberry and cream flavour.

I got 2 different flavours of the Good 4 U superbites. I got banana & cocoa and cocoa & orange. These are like little truffles and are very enjoyable. They are perfect to pop in your bag to avoid the chocolate bars in the vending machines!

The last thing I got was Urban Fruit, Perfect Pineapple. This is really tasty, once I stated eating this I almost ate the whole bag in one sitting and I thought to myself well it’s okay because these are healthy! They made for something nice to munch on while relaxing after a busy day. I will buy these again.

Overall I think my favourites where the Perfect Pineapple and the strawberry and cream nibbles. Saying that though I think I would probably buy them all again because I did actually enjoy all of them. I really want to do this again so let me know what healthy snacks you like so I can give them a try. Leave them in the comments or let me know on twitter .

Sleek MakeUP Highlighting Palette…

This is the Sleek MakeupUP Precious Metals highlighting palette. It has four beautiful shades, 3 of which are a cream base and one a powder and each will make your skin look very elegant. Priced at only £9.99 from Boots, I  genuinely think this was a great deal because it is a very versatile product.

dsc_0357The cream based shades are Platinum, Antique Bronze and Royal Gold. The powder based shade is Renaissance Gold. You can use Platinum to highlight across your brow bone and the inner corners of your eyes. Use the Antique Bronze to highlight along the tops of your cheekbones. Use the Royal Gold shade to highlight the bridge of your nose. Finally, to make your lips look more prominent, highlight the cupids bow with Renaissance Gold.

I love the shades in this palette they look so luxurious and I have been really enjoying using this Palette lately. I think that the shades I like most our the Royal Gold which I think makes my nose look more defined and the Antique Bronze which makes my cheeks look radiant and glowing .

I would really like to try the Solstice Highlighting Palette next because I have just seen it while I was looking for the links for this post and that looks beautiful too. Have you used any of these Palette’s? Let me know what you thought of them over on twitter or in the comments below.
